All The World's A Stage...

"All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players: They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts" -As You Like It, William Shakespeare

The fine line between blasphemy and christianity.

blasphemy

Several times recently I have encountered genuine Christians trying to express their faith and getting it marked as blasphemy. Another thing? I have noticed a lot of marketing going out to Christians being called the same thing. A new video game has been released where you are a survivor of a post-apocalypse world trying to live while dealing with having been left behind. The makers of the game have had no end to the hate mail and religious name calling since they announced that it would be released. Blasphemy is known as one of the greatest of all sins, so it should not be taken lightly. It also shouldn't be thrust upon people as a descriptive word for their actions. Who is to say that one Christian gets it right and another gets it wrong? It seems to me that no one on earth should be entitled to that power, or judge how another lives their life. Different branches of Christianity have various views on how the bible should be interpreted. Some Christians believe that it is okay to drink, while others see that as a sure-fire get-into-hell-free card. Others see that its okay to curse and that it is not using the lord's name in vain, while others see cussing as a great sin that is strongly frowned upon. This is just a start, as we all know Christians can be very opinionated about many things and have a right to be. That's fine, believe what you want, but don't tell others that they don't have it right. There is a great song" by relient k called "down in flames" that sums a lot of it up, look at the lyrics...

Christians-- we're all afraid of fire.
We prefer to suck on pacifiers.
Baby pacifists, we're throwing fits.
We don't shake hands, we shake our fists.

We're cannibals.
We watch our brothers fall.
We eat our own, the bones and all.

Finally fell asleep on the plane
to wake to see we're going down in flames.

We're going down, down, down in flames.
We're gonna drown, drown, drown insane.

We see the problem and the risk,
but nothing's solved.
We just say, "Tisk, tisk, tisk,"
and, "Shame, shame, shame."

Finally fell asleep on the plane
to wake to see we're going down in flames.

Let's go!

Christians-- we mourn, the thorn is stuck
in the side of the body watch it self-destruct.
The enemy is much ignored
when we fight this Christian civil war.

We're cannibals.
We watch our brothers fall.
We eat our own, the bones and all.

Finally fell asleep on the plane
to wake to see we're going down in flames.

We're going down, down, down in flames.
We're gonna drown, drown, drown insane.

We see the problem and the risk,
but nothing's solved.
We just say, "Tisk, tisk, tisk,"
and, "Shame, shame, shame."

Finally fell asleep on the plane
to wake to see we're going down in flames.

Let me pause to clarify
('cause I'm sure you're asking, "Why?").
I stand before you and proudly claim
to belong to what this song complains.

I'm part of the problem,
I confess,
But I gotta get this off my chest.

Let's extinguish the anguish
for which we're to blame,
and save the world
from going down in flames.
